To the Blazin Gazelles Youth Track Club Team Website. Our hope and prayer is that all your questions and concerns are answered. We look forward to meeting you and your athlete. This is a way for us to provide information about our organization as well as keep you updated on upcoming and future events.
Detra Ransom Head Coach/Founder
Coach Dee founded the Blazin Gazelles Youth Track Club in 2011. She grew up in Long Beach, CA and started running at the age of 10 years old for the California Quicksliver youth track club under the leadership of Mrs. Jones. As a USATF athlete she competed and the heptathlon multi-events where she feel in love with the hurdles.
Coach Dee attended and ran track for Long Beach Poly High School and was a proud member of the 97 and 98 CIF State Championship teams. She held the record in the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles up until 2011 when it was broken by Mila Cox at the state championships. She had the pleasure and the honor of being coached by the greatest track and field coach around Don Norford.
She enjoys working with children. Coach Dee has been an educator for 11 years. She has a heart and passion for children. Her all time goal is to open her own Early Childhood Learning Center. Making a difference in the community she grew up in does her soul well. She now shares her love for the sport through coaching. "Track NEVER Dies"
She is the wife of Nakia Ransom and has been for the last 12 years. They have a set of 10 year old twins Jalen and Jorden and a 2 year old daughter Jade. Track is in both their bloods. We look forward to welcoming all new and returning athletes. To God be the glory in everything that we do. Be blessed.......
She has been the girls hurdle coach at Long Beach Poly High School Since 2012 and this year was her first begin the boys and girls hurdle Coach on all levels.
